A Majority Female-Owned Chemical Supplier Built on Legacy
Kayochem, originally Kayo Fine Chemicals, was founded in November 2006 by Kathy Odendaal — a driven entrepreneur whose vision, passion and determination laid the foundation for everything Kayochem is today.
Furthermore, Tracy De Bruyn, who had worked alongside Kathy for several years, was there from the very beginning. Together they built the business from the ground up — cold-calling clients, sourcing stock, and creating the systems and relationships that Kayochem still runs on today.
When Kathy passed away unexpectedly, Tracy chose to honour her legacy. As a result, she continued the business they had built together. Nearly 20 years later, Kayochem stands as a testament to Kathy’s founding vision and Tracy’s unwavering commitment to keeping it alive and growing.
Today, as a majority female-owned chemical supplier based in Germiston, Gauteng, Kayochem continues to serve Johannesburg and South Africa’s food, beverage, industrial, agricultural, poultry and veterinary industries — and beyond. Our reach now extends across borders, with clients in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Nigeria, and Eswatini. The same values Kathy built into the business remain at our core.
